1920's Radios

This is where radio broadcasting began. We started with the single tube (and crystal sets) driving an earphone to mulit tube, mostly TRF radios. There were superhet sets too, but they were much different than the 1930's. Manufacturers figured out how to gang capacitors, which put some "radio tuning experts" out of business. The ordinary citizen could operate one of these sets.

Atwater Kents

Here are two radios stacked up. One is an Atwater-Kent model 33 and I forgot what the other one is. There are in temporary storage until I finish more shelves in my living room. I haven't worked on these yet, but plan on making both of them go.

Radiola II

This is one of the first commercially produced radios on the market. This is missing the box. It was a portable radio with headphone storage in the front and batteries in the back. It has two tubes. I haven't played with this one yet but I hope to get it working if the tubes are good.
